Part I: Business Introduction Letter

Centex Creations
7800 San Felipe Blvd
Austin, TX 78729

Dear Mr/Ms Smith:

I started Centex Creations in 2003. We are based out of central Texas in the Austin area. The company operates with a few employees that handle tasks quickly and efficiently. I started out designing album covers and moved to web design for pitbull kennels. Over the years I have created quite a few kennel sites from Jurrassic Kennels to The Pit House to War Lord Kennels. Since I have taken over the design for these sites, the owners have seen significant increase in site traffic and profit.

I used to raise and breed pitbulls myself as well. So therefore, I have a deeper knowledge of the breed and the business than most designers do. The sites are designed with passion. I understand that the site must catch the viewer’s attention to keep them in to continue to view the site. Once in, then the viewer may become a potential buyer of one of your dogs. This way the site must be interactive so they can get as much information as possible to make a conscious buying decision. I know with this breed that pedigrees and pictures are important so the individual can get a grasp of how great your pitbulls are compared to the next kennel.

MVP Kennels promotes the breed strongly in a positive manner. Your dogs are what pitbulls were meant to be. They are solid, muscular, good temperament, and active. I respect a kennel such as yours for doing a great job at raising and promoting this breed.

I look forward to doing business with you. Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Justin J. Laing

Client Background

MVP Kennels is a pitbull kennel based out of central Texas. MVP stands for Most Valuable Pits. They breed American Pitbull Terriers for conformation, show, weight pull, and agility. Their dogs are ADBA and/or UKC registered. They specialize in red rednose dogs that come from such bloodlines as Camelot, Petersons, Sorana, and Wilder to name a few. The kennel has been in business for 5 years now. Their target audience is any breeder or potential dog owner whether they are new to pitbulls or not. MVP strives to sell dogs to responsible individuals who will keep the pitbull breed in a positive light. This kennel is not a puppy mill and does not sell to any either. MVP Kennels requires the need for Centex Creations to come in to design for them. The current site is a template based site hosted at Tripod. It does not look very professional and is not bringing in the desired traffic the owner wants. Centex Creations has designed for kennels in the past to improve their site traffic and increase profits. We suggest a total redesign of the current web site. We also suggest stationary, web banners and T-shirt designs. Business cards would be included in the stationary so when they are out and about they can hand out these business cards. Web banners can be used to promote around the internet on message boards, top lists, and link exchanges. Finally, T-shirts are a must. When MVP Kennels goes to a dog show they can wear these shirts for promotion of the kennel and the web site. They can also sell these shirts to others and give them out to family to wear. Nothing better than free walking promotion.

Design Style & Concepts

Style

The design style chosen for this project is the urban style. Urban can also be affiliated with street art. Urban is more of a modern look and feel. I feel that urban will work the best for MVP Kennels design. The rough and rugged look with street characteristics. Pitbulls are not lay down and remain still type of dogs. The breed is very active and passionate. So I wanted a style that would create such a tempo as the breed does. I also feel that the urban style is more geared towards today’s pitbull audience and potential buyers as well. These buyers are surfing from site to site viewing various kennels so this style will impact them once they have reached MVP Kennels site. Potentially turning a site viewer into a buyer. This an apply to the t-shirt and business card design as well. Business cards and t-shirts are basically walking promotion. Business cards are handed out freely and need to make an impact on site or else the individual will just throw the business card away. T-shirts are great to because if the design is right it will catch somebody’s attention. The will read MVP Kennels across a shirt and it will stick in there head until they can get home and search for it on the internet to see what is really going on.
